History

The Grand Anglo-Français Tricolore is a large breed of dog that was once popular in France. The breed is thought to have originated in the early 1800s, when English and French hunters began crossbreeding their dogs in order to create a new breed that would be better suited for hunting large game. The resulting dogs were larger and had longer legs than either of their parent breeds, making them ideal for chasing down prey. However, the Grand Anglo-Français Tricolore was not recognized as an official breed until much later. In fact, the breed nearly became extinct in the early 1900s due to a lack of interest from hunters. It was not until the 1970s that the breed began to regain popularity, thanks to a few dedicated breeders who worked to keep the Grand Anglo-Français Tricolore alive. Today, the breed is once again becoming popular among hunters and dog lovers alike.
